Nature of contract Fee-based 007. Contract description Northern Region Water Board (NRWB) is one of the five Water Boards of Malawi. The purpose of the TA operation is to provide assistance to NRWB in the areas of investment planning and implementation, non-revenue water reduction and operational and maintenance improvements, as well as to assess the potential for future investments in sanitation. The TA operation should cover both towns of Mzuzu and Ekwendeni. The TA Consultant will be responsible for ensuring that NRWB can achieve a number of targets by the completion of the contract including (i) review of detailed designs, (ii) development of efficient and effective well field pumping system, (iii) development of GIS and (iv) a hydraulic model, (v) design of the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Management Information System (MIS), (vi) staff training on GIS, Hydraulic modelling and leak detection, (vii) reduction in non-revenue water to approximately 25% from the current 36%, (viii) satisfactory project procurement and (ix) project management and monitoring, (x) development of a sanitation project proposal, (xi) assessment of the potential of Lunyangwa Dam Raising and (xii) design of two river intakes. The expert team should be composed of a Team Leader, a Water Supply and Sanitation Expert, and various other engineering specialists according to needs.
